Kumiko Izakaya is a bar, café, restaurant and concert venue at the end of Rue Dansaert (a long designer street connecting the stock exchange building to the northern part of Brussels). When you enter the cozy and beautiful Kumiko, you may not have the slightest idea that the back of the bar opens onto Brussels: a gigantic outdoor terrace and a courtyard with hundreds of chairs, benches and wooden tables. Chic and romantic, it has quickly become my new favorite place to be a step away from the city center. They are open all day and have a great kitchen of fresh burgers, donburis, but also homemade lemonade and delicious G & T’s. I love Kumiko best for his musical nights and the DJ roaster, small labels and local talent. The music is played down in the chalet atmosphere (the lights are off, there is a small DJ booth and a cozy dance floor). Musical evenings take place on Friday and Saturday from 21.00 to 3.00. (Note that sometimes it starts much later, as people are still eating!) You can also visit their sister café “Flamingo”.
